Job description

Reporting to Operations Manager, the GIS Analyst supports the development, maintenance, and delivery of spatial data and mapping solutions used across Highway Maintenance operations.

This role is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and updating geospatial information to ensure accuracy and accessibility of data systems that support planning and decision-making.

In this role you will work closely with operations and field personnel to develop, support, and improve ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 forms that capture daily operational activities.

As GIS Analyst, you will take ownership of the business unit’s ArcGIS applications, bridging the gap between the GIS tools and field operations, ensuring that the digital tools are user‑friendly, reliable, efficient and aligned with operational workflows. This role plays a key part in supporting maintenance contracts by optimizing data collection workflows and enhancing reporting accuracy.

Responsibilities
  • Support, maintain and enhance ArcGIS Field Maps and Survey123 forms used for maintenance activity reporting, asset inventory collection and field inspections.
  • Work as part of a team collaborating directly with operations and field personnel to understand operational needs and identify workflow improvements to improve the usability and effectiveness of ArcGIS forms.
  • Create and maintain project‑specific web mapping applications.
  • Create maps in various formats using cartographic skills to support operations and reporting.
  • Maintain, update, and analyze both spatial and non‑spatial data.
  • Integrate and consolidate different geospatial data formats into GIS.
  • Provide technical support and hands‑on training to GIS‑based application users.
  • Maintain user documentation and procedures as needed
  • Other duties as required to support ongoing GIS and data management initiatives within the Highway Maintenance team
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geomatics, Geography, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • 1-3 years of related experience with GIS, including spatial data processing, web mapping application, publishing web services, thematic mapping, database management, and knowledge of relevant software tools
  • Strong working knowledge of ArcGIS Desktop Software Suite (ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro)
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Enterprise/ArcGIS Online and web‑based Esri tools including Collector for ArcGIS/Field Maps, Survey123, Dashboard, Web AppBuilder, QuickCollect and Workforce for ArcGIS are assets
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and with users of varying technological capabilities to collaborate effectively
  • Experience with highways, transportation or linear‑based projects is an asset
  • Ability to work with databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL and familiarity with Python is an asset
  • Successful completion of pre‑employment drug & alcohol and background check requirements
Working Conditions
  • Hybrid position that will include work from home, and travel to Ledcor offices or project sites.
