Job description

This is a strategic opportunity to lead risk and compliance efforts for Manulife’s Mortgage Creditor Insurance business. The successful candidate will act as a key liaison between the business unit and Affinity Risk & Compliance, ensuring regulatory adherence and operational integrity. This role contributes directly to our mission of protecting customers and maintaining trust through proactive risk management. You’ll gain exposure to cross-functional teams, influence policy implementation, and drive continuous improvement in a dynamic, regulated environment.

Position Responsibilities
Risk and Compliance Partnership

Serve as the primary interface between Mortgage Creditor Insurance and Affinity Risk & Compliance, as well as Legal.

Collaborate on interpreting and implementing regulatory and policy requirements.

Support compliance programs and risk mitigation strategies.

Own broker training and licensing requirements across provinces.

Regulatory & Policy Adherence

Monitor and assess regulatory changes at provincial and federal levels.

Ensure business practices align with evolving compliance standards.

Lead internal audits and annual control attestation processes.

Governance & Reporting

Develop and maintain dashboards, metrics, and reporting tools.

Provide leadership updates on compliance status and risk mitigation.

Support incident management and documentation.

Training & Awareness

Coordinate and deliver compliance training for staff.

Foster a culture of risk awareness and ethical conduct.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities to streamline compliance processes.

Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance controls and reduce risk.

Maintain ownership of policies and procedures within the Mortgage Creditor Insurance business.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of experience in risk management, compliance, or related roles in insurance or financial services.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, or related field.

Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks for Mortgage Creditor Insurance.

Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.

Proven ability to influence and drive change across diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a matrixed organization.

Familiarity with GRC tools.

Project management experience or certification (e.g., PMP).

Knowledge of Canadian insurance regulations and mortgage lending practices.

Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec.

Salary range is expected to be between

$68,775.00 CAD - $114,625.00 CAD
