Job summary

Maxi, part of Loblaw, is seeking a department manager in Montreal to oversee daily store operations, drive sales and profitability, and mentor associates in customer service, product knowledge and merchandising.

You will ensure stock, pricing, inventory control, safety and budgeting while leading diverse teams with a focus on inclusiveness. Flexible schedule including nights/weekends required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred.
• Retail management experience, preferably in a department or specialty store.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to motivate and develop staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of a specific department within a store.
• Ensure the department meets or exceeds sales and profitability goals.
• Train and develop department associates in customer service, product knowledge, and merchandising.
• Ensure merchandise is stocked, displayed, and priced appropriately.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with other departments for replenishment.
• Maintain a clean and safe department for customers and employees.
• Manage departmental expenses and assist in budget preparation.
• Communicate with store management and other department managers to meet store-wide goals.
• Lead, coach and motivate colleagues to improve productivity, engagement and retention.
• Build and lead diverse teams fostering inclusiveness and belonging.
