Job summary

AECOM in Burnaby/ Vancouver region is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer - Project Manager to lead consulting delivery on infrastructure projects. You will manage scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality while mentoring junior staff and serving as the primary client interface.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or related field with relevant experience.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Experience delivering geotechnical investigation programs and preparing reports for analysis, design and construction.
  • Proven ability to manage clients, budgets, and schedules in a consulting environment.
  • Registered or eligible for P.Eng. and geotechnical practice in BC is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Define scope, deliverables, and manage scope changes and risk.
  • Develop budgets and schedules; support invoicing and financial tracking.
  • Ensure quality and safety in field and office activities across projects.

Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking aGeotechnical Engineer -Project Managerto lead consulting delivery of engineering services for various infrastructure projects in the Vancouver and other regions. We will rely on you to managescope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality, while serving as a key client interface and mentor to junior staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client leadership:Act as the primary day-to-day client contact; lead meetings, manage expectations, and maintain strong relationships.
  • Business development support:Support proposal writing, scope development, and client presentations; identify follow-on opportunities and help grow key accounts in Metro Vancouver and surrounding areas.
  • Scope & change management:Define scope, assumptions, exclusions, and deliverables; manage change requests, contract amendments, and commercial risk.
  • Budget & schedule management:Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, resourcing plans, and schedules; support invoicing in coordination with finance operations.
  • Quality & safety leadership:Ensure deliverables meet quality expectations; champion health & safety in field and office activities.
  • Deliver projects on time and on budgetwith strong technical quality.
  • Maintain positive client feedback and repeat work secured through excellent delivery and communication.
  • Support teams through effective planning, mentoring, and clear accountability.
  • Identify risks early with clear mitigation plans (technical and commercial).
Working Conditions
  • Mix of office work andlocal site visitswithin Metro Vancouver and nearby regions.
  • Periodic field oversight during drilling/investigation programs and construction support as required.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degreein Civil or Geotechnical Engineering (or related) + 6 years of related experience.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Experience deliveringgeotechnical investigation programs and producing/reviewing interpretive reports and recommendations suitable for analysis, design and construction.
  • Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering practice inBC(site characterization, groundwater, soils/rock, analysis and design, seismic considerations, construction support).
  • Proven ability to manageclients, budgets, and schedules in a consulting environment.
  • Demonstrated strength in technical writing, effective communication, and interpersonal collaboration.
  • Demonstrated track record in successfully delivering local infrastructure projects for municipal and provincial clients (e.g., Metro Vancouver, MOTI).
Preferred Qualifications
  • P.Eng. (Engineers and Geoscientists BC)in good standing (or eligibility to register).
  • Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Typically10+ yearsof geotechnical consulting experience with demonstrated project management responsibility (site investigation through report/design/construction support).
  • Experience in one or more of: transportation, marine/coastal, water/wastewater, tunnels, earthworks, landslides, or major urban development.
