Your Opportunity

Are you an experienced geotechnical engineer ready to take the next step in your career? We are seeking an intermediate to senior geotechnical engineer to join our team in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Stantec is a global engineering consulting firm dedicated to creating sustainable and innovative solutions with a focus on people, value, team spirit, and excellence. The successful candidate will lead our local team in Saint John with support from our team in Atlantic Canada, supported by a wider, regional team of over 200 geotechnical staff.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Development: Apply your growing expertise while learning from experienced engineers and contributing to high-quality deliverables. Develop and manage geotechnical investigations including coordination of field teams and subcontractors. Conduct engineering analyses and design for a variety of small to large geotechnical projects related to transportation and infrastructure, power, mining, industrial, commercial and residential developments.
  • Escape the Office: Perform occasional field work, which may include visual site inspections, monitoring of geotechnical investigation programs, construction monitoring, slope stability assessments, and installation and monitoring of geotechnical instrumentation. The extent of fieldwork may vary depending on the applicant’s interest and experience.
  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate with project teams within New Brunswick, the Maritimes and across Canada and contribute to a supportive, growth-focused environment. Mentor and train junior staff to expand our geotechnical engineering and materials team and shape the next generation of engineers and technicians.
  • Project Delivery: Take ownership of small to mid-sized projects—supporting planning, analysis, reporting, and client communication with mentorship from senior staff. Begin building client relationships by supporting project delivery and learning to tailor solutions to meet evolving needs.
What we offer

  • Commitment to technical excellence and junior mentorship.
  • Curiosity to learn and explore new opportunities.
  • Relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, with interest in shallow and deep foundation design, slope stability, monitoring and instrumentation, settlement analysis, ground improvement and materials testing services.
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license with access to a vehicle.
  • Residing in New Brunswick, or willing to relocate.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of engineering (such as Civil, Geotechnical, Geological, or Mining Engineering, or Engineering Geology) from a recognized university.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in geotechnical engineering or related services.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) in good standing with APEGNB, or eligible for registration if transferring from another province.
