Geotechnical Engineer – Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer

Location: Medicine Hat, AB. Work location: On site.

You will play an important role in a dynamic and passionate team, collaborating on a variety of projects in the environment, renewable energies, hydroelectricity, transportation, materials, buildings and climate change markets. Boldness, innovation and collaboration are integral to our daily operations. Englobe is seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in the MPE Medicine Hat office.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute geotechnical site investigations.
  • Perform geotechnical calculations and analysis for a wide range of projects.
  • Perform geotechnical design for earthen dams.
  • Perform geotechnical analysis and design for geohazards.
  • Install and/or analyze geotechnical instrumentation and data.
  • Perform construction inspections as related to foundations, earthworks, etc.
  • Prepare written reports.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Civil/Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering. A graduate degree may be considered an asset, but is not required.
  • Between 3 to 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Self-motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Aptitude for problem solving; able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience carrying out geotechnical site investigations and analysis is an asset.
  • Prior experience with geohazards and/or dams is an asset.
  • Eligible for membership with APEGA.
  • Ability to travel and work remotely in all weather conditions; valid driver's license; able to work long hours when required.
