Job description

AECOM is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our Markham office. You’ll work on a variety of projects and develop your technical skills with guidance from senior geotechnical engineers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and carry out geotechnical investigations for transportation, municipal, energy, and commercial projects.
  • Oversee field investigations, site inspections, and prepare borehole logs and reports.
  • Support foundation design, slope stability, and settlement analyses.
  • Provide technical input and project management support for ongoing projects.
  • Prepare technical proposals and reports.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Ontario and Canada.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Travel occasionally for field work (e.g., drilling site assessments).
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Geotechnical, Geological, or Civil Engineering.
  • 4 years of relevant geotechnical or civil engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Geotechnical or related engineering discipline.
  • . designation (or eligibility for registration with PEO).
  • 6 years of consulting or geotechnical design experience.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Knowledge of soil and rock mechanics QA / QC and construction oversight.
  • Familiarity with geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, Settle3D, gINT, AutoCAD).
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word).
  • Valid G-class drivers license.
