Job summary

Siksika Nation is seeking a Geomatics Technician to support land development, utility planning, and environmental assessments. You will collect, analyze, and manage spatial data, perform surveys with GNSS and UAVs, and generate GIS datasets for decision support.

The role requires knowledge of ArcGIS/QGIS/AutoCAD Civil 3D and strong attention to detail, with a preference for candidates with surveying and GIS project experience in a tribal or land-management context.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Geomatics, Surveying, GIS, or Civil Engineering Technology required/preferred.
• Experience in surveying, GIS mapping, or infrastructure projects recommended.
• General knowledge of Siksika Nation culture and language is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform topographic, boundary, and construction surveys using GNSS, total stations, and UAVs.
• Use GIS software to create detailed spatial maps and datasets.
• Analyze aerial imagery, LiDAR, and satellite data for land evaluation and planning.
• Produce survey reports and GIS datasets with accurate land descriptions for documentation.
• Maintain and organize digital land records for the Siksika Nation.
