Job summary

SGS is seeking a General Labourer for a drive-in/drive-out role from Winnipeg, MB to Red Lake, ON. The position involves routine sample processing, crushing and pulverizing of geological materials with 12-hour shifts that rotate days and overnights.

Accommodation and meals per diem are provided for the two-week rotations. Applicants should have a high school diploma and 0–1 years of relevant experience, with strong analytical and mechanical skills and the ability to follow safety instructions

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 0-1 years of relevant work experience or equivalent through education.
• Strong analytical and mechanical skills.
• Ability to perform routine bench tests.
• Willingness to learn new analytical tests, instrumentation and procedures.
• Must read, understand and follow work instructions safely and timely.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work well with others and independently.
• Proven time management and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Unpack, sort, transfer and dry samples.
• Execute crushing, pulverizing and screening of geological materials.
• Perform routine quality checks and report results promptly.
• Enter QC data into SLIMS and maintain records.
• Keep work area clean and organized and dispose of waste per procedures.
• Maintain equipment and report any defects to supervisor.
• Possibly support other areas of the Geochemistry lab as needed.
