NSB Omega is looking for a Geologist for our MAJOR Oil & Gas Client in Calgary, AB.

Assignment Description

The CHO Saskatchewan Geoscience team is seeking a Contract Geologist to support the evaluation and development of opportunities across our Conventional Heavy Oil asset. In this role, you will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to advance projects through internal approval processes and identify value enhancing land acquisition opportunities. You will also assess these projects for the application of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques, including CO₂ injection, waterflooding, and polymer flooding, to extend asset life and maximize portfolio value.

Responsibilities & Deliverables

Conduct geological evaluations using available data including core data, well logs, drilling / production information, etc.

  • Provide insights and recommendations to define project strategies.
  • Prepare and present technical recommendations to leadership through formal review processes.
  • Evaluate open Crown, freehold, and industry held land for potential acquisition or divestiture.
  • Stay informed of academic advancements and industry activity to incorporate new learnings into development projects.
  • Contribute to Long Range Planning (LRP) and annual budgeting processes.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to optimize business practices and enhance project economics.
  • Key stakeholders include Geoscience team, drilling, well delivery, earthworks, environmental, land and regulatory.
  • Role will support multiple assets in Saskatchewan working primarily with Geophysicists and development engineers to ensure Geoscience development goals are met, workflows are optimized and results communicated regularly within team, at team meetings, to management at Gate reviews and in knowledge shares.
  • Key metrics will be meeting regular deadlines to support ongoing development inventory, incorporating most recent data and drill results, and applying learning to guide future well planning, seismic acquisition and guide land strategy. This role is imperative to support the CHO Geoscience team and deliver high quality geological outputs to successfully propose and execute both sustaining and IWP initiatives to meet D&P deliverables.
  • Spectrum of decision making includes proposing IWP wells, HZ well planning and placement, well design, working with Geo Execution to optimize directional planning and additional logs, core, viscosity testing etc.
Qualifications

Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

  • B.Sc. Degree or higher in Geology
  • 8+ years of related industry experience
  • Member of APEGA or other Provincial Professional Geoscience Organization is required
  • Experience with a wide range of geoscience software such as Geographix, Accumap, GeoScout, Petrel, and
  • Strong experience in project management and / or asset development
  • Sound knowledge of geology and and sequence stratigraphy. Good understanding of clastic depositional systems preferably with some exposure to Mannville Group stratigraphy
  • Demonstrates the ability to understand and operate effectively in a diverse and multi-cultural environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
