Job description

Irving Wallboard is currently seeking a Student Geologist-in-training for its Gypsum Supply team. The student will be working during the 2026 summer term. Start and end dates are flexible.

Do you have a passion for the outdoors? Do you have an interest in mining and mineral exploration? Irving Wallboard, via Hammond River Holdings, explores for and mines gypsum to create wallboard at its Saint John manufacturing facility. With multiple mineral claims and mines, the student will be exposed to all aspects and stages of the mineral exploration and mining business. This position is based in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a B.Sc or B.Eng program in earth sciences, geology, geological engineering, or civil engineering. Must be in good academic standing and returning to school.
  • Professional, hardworking team player with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments and shifting priorities.
  • Must be physically fit and able to perform physically demanding field work.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license with ability to travel around southern NB and NS.
  • No previous geology or engineering experience required.
  • At least 2 years of undergraduate experience.
Responsibilities
  • Assisting with field mapping and prospecting; traversing, data collection, rock sampling
  • Assist with any core logging requirements; geotechnical logging of drill core, photography
  • Assist environmental technicians with the collection of air and water monitoring samples
  • Data entry and compilation activities
  • Other duties as required
