Job summary

SGS is seeking a laboratory technician for a fixed-term contract in Burnaby, Canada. The role involves unpacking and preparing geological samples, performing crushing, pulverizing, and screening, and conduct routine quality checks with data reporting to the supervisor.

You will maintain clean work areas and adhere to lab procedures, with possible assignment to other geochemistry tasks as needed. The position requires a high school diploma and 0-1 years of relevant experience, with compensation

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 0-1 years of relevant work experience or equivalent through education.

Responsibilities

• Unpack, sort, transfer and dry samples
• Execute crushing, pulverizing and screening of geological materials per SOPs
• Perform routine quality checks including particle size analysis and report data to supervisor if outside parameters
• Ensure work order documentation is complete and QC results entered into SLIMS
• Maintain clean and organized workbench; dispose of waste per lab procedures
• Inform supervisor of any damaged or defective equipment and adjust as required
• Keep records and notebooks organized (work orders, equipment maintenance)
• May work in other areas of Geochemistry laboratory sections as needed
