GFL Environmental Inc. in Edmonton is seeking General Yard Labourers to join our outdoor operations team. This entry-level role emphasizes safety, reliability, and a strong work ethic as you support maintenance and site tasks year-round.

You will perform housekeeping, basic upkeep, snow removal, and assist with simple facility tasks. A valid driver's license, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and willingness to work outside most of the year are required.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Capable of physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Able to work outdoors 80–90% of the time in variable weather year-round.
• Willing to be on-call for holiday coverage as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform general housekeeping, pick up yard debris, pull weeds, and trim trees to keep the site clean and safe.
• Assist team with basic tasks such as valve replacements, lighting changes, painting, and facility upkeep.
• Handle winter snow removal duties, including shoveling sidewalks and operating snow blowers.
• Maintain facility cleanliness through housekeeping and equipment upkeep.
• Conduct job hazard assessments and contribute to a strong safety culture.
• Deliver friendly, professional service to facility visitors and customers.

About the Role

We are seeking reliable, hardworking individuals to join our team as General Yard Labourers. This role is primarily outdoor-based and plays a crucial part in maintaining our facility operations, ensuring site safety, and supporting our maintenance team year-round.

This entry-level role requires a strong safety mindset, solid work ethic, and the ability to perform moderately labour-intensive and repetitive tasks in an outdoor yard environment.

This is an excellent opportunity to grow and advance into other operational roles within the organization.

The standard work schedule is 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general housekeeping, pick up yard debris/garbage, pull weeds, and trim trees to keep the site clean and safe.
• Assist team members with basic tasks such as valve replacements, lighting changes, painting, and general facility upkeep.
• Handle winter snow removal duties, including shoveling sidewalks and operating snow blowers.

• Maintain facility cleanliness through general housekeeping and equipment upkeep.
• Conduct job hazard assessments and contribute to a strong safety culture.
• Deliver friendly, professional service and prompt support to facility visitors and customers.
• Ensure all visitors follow site safety protocols, including wearing proper PPE and remaining in designated safe areas.
• Complete routine cleaning and site organization tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Capability to handle physically demanding work, including frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work comfortably outdoors 80–90% of the time in various weather elements year-round.
• Willingness to be on-call as required (including holiday coverage support).
