Job summary

Talize is seeking a driven General Manager in Ontario to lead overall store performance, profitability, and exceptional customer service. You will oversee merchandising, staffing, donation flow, and compliance while building a high-performing, inclusive team aligned with Talize’s mission.

You bring 3+ years of GM experience in a $4M+ revenue retail setting, strong budgeting and data skills, and a passion for mentoring teams.

We are seeking a driven and experienced General Manager who will lead overall store performance by driving profitability, operational excellence, and outstanding customer service. This role oversees all key store functions—including merchandising, staffing, donation flow, and compliance—while fostering a high-performing, inclusive team aligned with Talize’s mission of sustainable and affordable fashion. The General Manager executes business strategies, develops talent, and ensures strong financial results and community engagement.

Travel or Availability Requirements

This role requires open availability, including weekends, holidays, and closing shifts, with consistent reliability to support smooth operations.

Salary Rate

$72,500 / annually

What You’ll Be Doing - Every Day is Game Day
Departmental Duties
  • Store Operations:
  • Oversee daily store operations, including customer service, retail floor execution, donation intake, and merchandise flow.
  • Ensure the store meets sales goals, maintains strong merchandising standards, and delivers an exceptional customer experience.
  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness from open to close.
  • Drive financial results by managing sales performance, labor usage, and expense control.
  • Track key metrics and make operational adjustments to support profitability and efficiency.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the AGM and store team to uphold company values, policies, and performance expectations.
  • Manage recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance evaluations for all store employees.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive culture through communication, recognition, and team engagement.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with operational policies, HR standards, and health and safety regulations.
  • Address hazards, incidents, and theft concerns in alignment with company protocols.
  • Maintain consistent adherence to company procedures across all store functions.

  • Willingness to relocate within Ontario and experience supporting new store openings.
  • Previous experience in thrift or discount retail environments.
  • 5+ years of overall retail experience.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
  • Comfortable in a physically active role involving constant movement, lifting up to 50 lbs, and safely moving rolling merchandise containers.
  • Able to work in a dynamic retail environment that may involve exposure to dust, dirt, and occasional pests while maintaining safety and professionalism.
  • Open to a flexible schedule—days, evenings, weekends, and holidays—and confident in engaging with customers and the community.
