ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW
Northern Light Theatre (NLT) is an Edmonton based theatre company with a mandate to challenge both artist and audience alike by producing and developing proactive scripts – language rich texts that are dark, poetic, funny – which reflect a complex world and lead us to question our hierarchy of values. Operating as a not for profit organization and a registered charity, NLT has been producing theatre for over 45 years and continually strives to provide audiences with opportunities to challenge themselves and their notions of the environment surrounding them.
Throughout the 2020/21 theatre season, NLT staff was committed to providing entertainment and respite for theatre patrons who were living with COVID restrictions. They provided a safe, physically distanced environment for the first show and then quickly pivoted to digital presentation for the rest of the season. This dedication to providing high quality theatre experiences throughout the ever changing landscape of the pandemic highlights their ability to live within challenges and to provide challenges for our audiences.
Under the creative artistic vision of Trevor Schmidt, with full support of the administrative team and the board, NLT is dedicated to producing intimate and affecting work that speaks to the modern audience of the urban human condition, the failure to find security and the loss of the dreams held by all for love and happiness.
POSITION SUMMARY
NLT is currently recruiting for a General Manager to maintain the organization’s business operations including the day to day administration tasks, operational reviews and reporting, project management, and developmental planning.
The General Manager reports to the Northern Light Theatre board and, in tandem with the Artistic Director, carries out NLT’s mandate while also advancing the organization’s current strategic priorities. Communication between these two senior roles is important and the staff team will work on projects together.
