Westerner Park is seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager, Facilities & Park Operations to join our senior leadership team. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for all physical assets and outdoor operations across Westerner Park, including facilities, grounds, parking, the RV Resort, and risk management programs.

As a steward of our infrastructure and public spaces, the General Manager ensures our facilities are safe, efficient, sustainable, and welcoming, supporting Westerner Park’s mission to deliver exceptional guest experiences and community impact.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the General Manager is responsible for shaping long-term strategies, operational excellence, and cross-departmental collaboration. This leader will contribute to capital planning, business continuity, safety culture, and sustainability, while strengthening partnerships with municipal and community stakeholders.

Key Areas of Responsibility
Strategic Asset & Infrastructure Management
  • Lead long-term capital and lifecycle renewal planning for all park facilities and assets.
  • Integrate asset management with guest experience, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability.
  • Evaluate and optimize service delivery models (in-house vs. contracted).
Facility, Grounds & Outdoor Operations
  • Oversee the maintenance, functionality, and appearance of all facilities, roads, and landscaped areas.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the RV Resort to ensure compliance, guest satisfaction, and operational excellence.
  • Direct parking operations, optimizing logistics, safety, and event-related revenues.
  • Ensure all public-facing spaces meet accessibility, safety, and brand standards.
Risk Management, Safety & Preparedness
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of emergency preparedness and risk mitigation programs.
  • Champion a proactive safety-first culture rooted in prevention, training, and accountability.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to ensure compliance and readiness.
  • Collaborate with municipal emergency partners for coordinated response planning.
Financial & Resource Stewardship
  • Develop and manage operating and capital budgets for facilities, grounds, and utilities.
  • Monitor cost drivers and identify efficiencies in maintenance, utilities, and procurement.
  • Deliver regular reports on asset performance, maintenance outcomes, and cost trends.
Sustainability & Utility Optimization
  • Implement environmentally responsible initiatives that reduce energy, water use, and waste.
  • Oversee sustainability contracts and report annually on environmental performance metrics.
  • Integrate sustainability objectives into capital planning and operational decision-making.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of trades, maintenance, and operations professionals.
  • Foster accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and development aligned with Westerner Park’s values.
  • Ensure staff readiness for emergency response and large-scale event support.
Collaboration & Partnership
  • Collaborate across departments to align facility operations with organizational goals.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with municipal and industry partners on infrastructure, transportation, and safety initiatives.
  • Contribute actively to senior management discussions and strategic planning.
Key Deliverables
  • Develop and implement a 5-Year Strategic Asset Management Plan aligned with Westerner Park’s Master Plan and long-term financial strategy.
  • Deliver annual Facilities, Grounds, and Outdoor Operations Plans focusing on maintenance, safety, and capital priorities.
  • Lead a Comprehensive Preparedness and Risk Program ensuring safety, emergency readiness, and business continuity.
  • Design and execute a Parking Operations Strategy, optimizing logistics, guest experience, safety, and event-related revenues.
  • Produce Operational and Sustainability Reports tracking maintenance metrics, safety performance, and environmental impact.
  • Build and maintain a Team Development and Accountability Framework promoting leadership growth, readiness, and operational excellence.
What You’ll Bring
  • Proven senior leadership experience in facilities management, operations, or asset management, ideally within a complex multi-site or public venue environment.
  • Strong strategic thinking, budgeting, and capital project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and foster a culture of safety and excellence.
  • Solid understanding of sustainability practices and regulatory compliance in facility operations.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Business, Facilities Management, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
