General Labourer

The General Labourer, working in the ICI construction sector, will be efficient, safety minded, have good communication skills and be a team member. Capable of working with minimal supervision and willing to follow directions closely. Ideally, we are looking for labourers with special skills, such as concrete forming and carpentry. We offer a consistent work schedule, competitive pay and development of our employees.


Responsibilities


  • Perform setup and cleanup tasks at job sites.

  • Operate hand and power tools of all types.

  • Erect and dismantle scaffolding or other temporary structures; build and position forms for concrete and dismantle forms after use.

  • Load and unload construction material on job sites.

  • Perform heavy labour such ditch digging and concrete demolition.

  • Assist skilled workers with construction projects in all phases of rough and finish carpentry.

  • Blueprint reading an asset.

  • Maintain a clean job site to eliminate possible safety hazards.

  • Plays an important role in supporting Abcott Construction staff in the construction process.


Experience / Requirements


  • 2+ years working experience preferred.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Basic understanding of construction principles and procedures.

  • Preferably experienced in using power, manual equipment and measurement tools.

  • Ability to read documents and drawings an asset.

  • Follow Safety guidelines at all times.

  • Safety training – Provide all safety certificates; Abcott Construction will arrange for any mandatory training if required.
