Job summary

NOV is seeking an Inspection Trainee in Nisku, Alberta to assist Operators in inspecting and repairing used sucker rods. The role involves handling, cleaning, inspection and basic shop tasks in a manufacturing and maintenance setting.

The position requires high school completion, good English communication, and adherence to safety standards. First Aid training is preferred; prior sucker rod inspection is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Operators in the use of the CSR Inspection unit.
• Perform thread inspection and magnetic particle inspection.
• Clean and repair pipe threads; sort and visually assess rods.
• Remove and apply thread compounds; relief/coupling work as needed.
• Set up and tear down equipment; calibrate units; conduct basic maintenance.
• Follow health, safety and environmental policies; participate in training.

Job Summary

The Inspection Trainee, in Nisku, Alberta will assist Operators in the inspection and repair of used sucker rods and is responsible for handling, cleaning, and inspection of used sucker rods.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Assisting Operators in the utilization of CSR Inspection unit.
• Thread inspection
• Magnetic Particle Inspection
• Cleaning and repair of pipe threads
• Sorting and visual assessment of rods
• Removal and application of thread compounds
• Coupling removal and replacement
• Equipment set up and tear down
• Unit calibration
• Basic unit maintenance
• General housekeeping and shop cleanup
• Responsible to follow all applicable company and corporate policies, guiding principles, procedures, and programs; including but not limited to the process map, support processes, health, safety, and environmental requirements
• Participate in training programs as required by the company
• All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Qualification Requirements:

• High school education with the ability to read, write and speak a minimum amount of English to perform job duties
• Strong communication skills
• Standard First Aid training preferred

• Previous sucker rod inspection experience is preferred but not required
• Standard First Aid training preferred

HSE Requirements

• Work is performed in a shop and yard environment. Possibility to be exposed to dust, fumes or gases and changes of temperature/humidity.
• Physical requirements: squatting, bending, reaching, twisting, lifting up to 23 kilograms, walking on rough ground, and working near moving equipment.
• Required to at all times wear proper protective clothing and equipment and perform duties in a safe manner.
