Job summary

Sandvik Mining & Norgalv in North Bay, ON is seeking a General Labourer for afternoon shifts to support daily production, assist with material handling, and prepare products for processing.

You will operate basic equipment, lift materials, move products between storage and work areas, maintain a clean, safe workplace, and follow safety procedures.

High School diploma or GED required; strong reliability, teamwork, and ability to read measurements are important for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Six months to one year of related experience preferred.
  • Must be accurate, safety-conscious, and able to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate basic construction equipment such as forklifts, hand tools, and power tools Safely.
  • Assist with material handling and moving products between storage and work areas.
  • Lift raw materials and finished goods and prepare them for shipment or processing.
  • Complete required paperwork per Norgalv processes, paper or electronic.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area; follow safety policies and procedures.

If so, we want to hear from you!This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team, develop new skills, and build a rewarding career with Norgalv.What you will be doingOperate equipment where training has been completedAssist in site preparation by clearing debris, removing obstacles, and setting up work areas.Lift raw materials, finished products, package items. Prepare them for shipment manually or by using forklift (if trained on a forklift)Provide support to workers, by holding materials, operating equipment, and assisting when neededComplete all paperwork as required per Norgalv process. This could be in paper form or electronicallyPlace products in equipment or on work surfaces for further processing, inspecting, or wrapping.Remove products, machine attachments, and waste material from machines.Transfer finished products, raw materials, tools, or equipment between storage and work areas of plants and warehouses, by hand or using hand trucks or powered-lift trucks.Keep the work area clean and organized by removing debris, waste materials, and hazardous materials. Dispose of waste properly.Follow safety procedures and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries. Report any safety concerns to the supervisor.Operate basic construction equipment, such as forklifts, hand tools, and power tools, in a safe and efficient manner.Collaborate with other team members to complete tasks efficiently and meet project deadlines.Follow instructions from supervisors and foremen regarding project requirements and tasks.Communicates with co-workers, management, customers and others in a courteous and professional manner.Ensure that customer requirements and expectations are met or exceeded.Safety and EnvironmentFollow all company health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE) and immediately report hazards, incidents, and near misses.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment through effective housekeeping practices.Handle materials, equipment, and waste in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.Actively participate in safety training, meetings, inspections, and initiatives to support a strong safety culture.What you will bring alongTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
