A global development organization is seeking a gender advisor for a volunteer placement in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. The role involves creating gender policies with community partners and requires a university degree in a related field along with experience in gender equality and policy analysis. Ideal candidates will have strong skills in training and working in multi-cultural teams. This position offers a modest living allowance and accommodation support.

Placement Length: 6 months with possible extension
Language Requirements: Spanish Level 4-Advanced and English Level 3-Intermediate

Project – Sharing Canadian Expertise for Inclusive Development and Gender Equality (SHARE)
The SHARE project, supported by Global Affairs Canada, runs from 2020‑2027 and aims to improve the well‑being of the poorest and most marginalized people, especially women and girls, in developing countries. It also seeks to enhance the performance of country partners to deliver inclusive, innovative, and environmentally sustainable development initiatives that advance gender equality in line with Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy.
Terms and Conditions: Support covers basic living expenses for one volunteer and does not include home‑based expenses or luxury items.
We commit to helping you prepare as best as possible for your placement. You will have a Volunteering Mobilization Advisor (VMA) to support you through the process and will participate in pre‑placement training. You will also have access to self‑directed briefing documents, online training, and external resources through the volunteer portal. This training maximizes your understanding of your placement and culture, helps you plan learning, and promotes safety and health.
Cuso International works with poor, vulnerable and marginalized people, mainly women and girls, to eradicate poverty and inequality. We uphold the highest standards of ethical and professional conduct. All vulnerability groups have the right to live free of harassment, sexual exploitation, and abuse. Volunteers must agree to uphold the Child Protection, Prevention of Workplace Violence, Prevention of Workplace Harassment and Discrimination, and Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Policies and Code of Conduct.
Most applicants are based in Canada, although we receive applications from outside Canada. Regardless of your location, we require you to provide passport information and current residence details. Leaving your country of residence can impact your citizenship status; applicants must research implications with local immigration authorities. Canadian Permanent Residents should arrange with immigration authorities before traveling to avoid risks to residency status.
