Job summary

A humanitarian organization is seeking a qualified Gender Consultant to conduct a comprehensive Gender, Youth, and Human Rights Analysis and develop the Gender Strategy for the SAY-SRHR project. The consultant will need to engage with project partners and community stakeholders remotely. The ideal candidate should have over 7 years of experience in gender analysis and strong communication skills. This is a flexible remote position based in Canada.

World Renew is seeking to engage a qualified Gender Consultant to conduct a comprehensive Gender, Youth, and Human Rights (GYHR) Analysis and develop the Gender Strategy for the Strengthening Adolescent and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SAY-SRHR) project in Bangladesh.

The consultant will provide expert technical guidance, analytical insights, and strategic recommendations to ensure the SAY-SRHR project's interventions are inclusive, equitable, and gender-transformative.

The consultancy will require close collaboration with World Renew Bangladesh staff, project partners, and community stakeholders. The consultant will work remotely and is expected to deliver all outputs within a six-month period (October 22, 2025 – March 22, 2026).

Consultants with experience in gender analysis, SRHR programming, and participatory research methodologies, particularly in South Asia, are strongly encouraged to submit bid proposal.

Place of Performance

Flexible / Remote.

The consultant must be legally eligible to work in Canada and be based there for the duration of the assignment.

No international travel is required unless otherwise agreed.

Timeframe

The anticipated start date for this consultancy is October 22, 2025, with completion expected by March 22, 2026 (6 months).

Phase Timeline
  • Planning Phase: October 2025 – Desk review, methodology development, work plan, and tool design.
  • Data Collection Phase: November – December 2025 – Remote Training of Trainers, data collection support for partners.
  • Analysis & Reporting Phase: January – February 2026 – Data analysis, validation workshops, and final reporting.
Scope of Work
Desk Review
  • Review project documents, relevant national policies, and existing gender and SRHR assessments.
  • Analyze secondary data sources related to adolescent health, gender equality, and human rights in Bangladesh.
Field‑Level Data Collection
  • Design qualitative and participatory data collection tools (e.g., focus groups, interviews, participatory mapping).
  • Conduct remote Training of Trainers sessions for partner staff on ethical and age‑appropriate data collection.
  • Support participatory engagement with adolescents, caregivers, community leaders, and health providers.
GYHR Analysis
  • Assess decision‑making power, access to and control over resources, participation in SRHR‑related decisions, and cultural norms.
  • Identify key barriers and opportunities for adolescent girls and marginalized youth to access SRHR services and exercise their rights.
Integration with the PI Model
  • Examine how World Renew's PI model can promote gender equality and youth empowerment.
  • Recommend strategies to strengthen community‑led approaches to gender and SRHR.
GYHR Reporting and Recommendations
  • Produce a comprehensive GYHR Analysis Report with actionable findings.
  • Present preliminary results in a validation workshop or briefing session.
Development of SAY‑SRHR Gender Strategy
  • Translate findings into a detailed Gender Strategy guiding design, implementation, and monitoring of gender‑responsive interventions.
  • Ensure alignment with Global Affairs Canada (GAC) gender‑transformative programming standards.
Deliverables
  • Inception Report – methodology, tools, and detailed work plan.
  • Desk Review Summary – synthesis of relevant literature and data.
  • Field Data Collection Tools – finalized instruments for qualitative engagement.
  • Preliminary Findings Presentation – validation with World Renew and partners.
  • Comprehensive GYHR Analysis Report – integration with the PI model and actionable recommendations.
  • SAY‑SRHR Gender Strategy – gender‑sensitive indicators, monitoring tools, and accountability framework.
  • Final Presentation – virtual session to present findings and strategic recommendations.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Advanced degree in Gender Studies, Public Health, International Development, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience conducting gender analyses, ideally in SRHR or youth‑focused programs.
  • Proven expertise in gender‑transformative and participatory methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage youth, communities, and institutions in rights‑based approaches.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills in cross‑cultural contexts.
  • Prior experience with faith‑based or community‑driven development is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English; knowledge of Bangla is an advantage.
