Job description

GC AI is a legal AI platform designed for in‑house legal teams, helping companies automate and improve legal work through AI‑powered tools. The company serves more than 1,800 organizations, including major public companies and high‑growth startups. GC AI has experienced rapid growth, reaching a $555M valuation after raising a $60M Series B. The company focuses on building AI solutions that give legal teams greater efficiency, speed, and leverage. Its culture emphasizes ownership, customer obsession, rapid execution, continuous improvement, and finding practical solutions.

About The Role

We’re looking for a Member of Technical Staff, Product Engineering who’s passionate about building products that transform how knowledge work gets done. As a key member of our engineering team, you’ll have end‑to‑end ownership of features that directly impact thousands of lawyers’ daily work. You’ll work directly with the founding team on building the future of legal work.

Why This Role Matters

Legal teams today are drowning in work. Our platform changes that, but only if we build it right. You’ll be crafting the systems that make sophisticated legal work feel simple and intuitive. Your code won’t just ship features; it will fundamentally change how legal teams operate, making their work faster, smarter, and more impactful.

What You’ll Do
  • Design and implement full‑stack features that blend elegant UX with robust backend systems.
  • Architect scalable solutions across our entire tech stack (React, TypeScript, Node.js).
  • Shape our technical direction, making crucial decisions about architecture and infrastructure.
  • Build and optimize cloud‑native systems using GCP.
  • Mentor and uplift other engineers through thoughtful code reviews and knowledge sharing.
  • Drive innovation in both our codebase and the legal tech industry as a whole
Impact You’ll Have
  • Own mission‑critical surfaces end‑to‑end from API to UI that lawyers use daily to review, draft, and advise.
  • Turn customer feedback into shippable specs and ship quickly, improving quality while shrinking lead time for change.
  • Raise the reliability bar (observability, testing, fallbacks) so complex AI features behave predictably in high‑stakes moments.
  • Help build the leading legal AI platform for in‑house teams.
  • 3+ years of experience building production‑grade web applications.
  • Strong expertise in modern JavaScript/TypeScript, and React.
  • Deep understanding of React and frontend architecture.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (GCP).
  • Track record of designing scalable backend systems.
  • History of making architectural decisions that stood the test of time.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with modern ORMs (Drizzle/Prisma) and API design.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices.
  • Background in building secure, compliant systems.
  • Familiarity with AI/LLM integrations.
  • Experience mentoring other engineers.
  • Understanding of legal tech or B2B SaaS.
