Position Summary

The HR generalist plays a key role in supporting the organization’s people strategy by managing and optimizing HR processes, ensuring data integrity within the HR Information System (HRIS), and enabling data-driven decision-making through analytics and reporting. This role provides strategic and operational HR support to leaders and employees while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency across payroll, HR data management, and employee relations activities.

Responsibilities
  1. HRIS, Data Management & Reporting (30%)
    Maintain, audit, and update employee data in the HRIS to ensure accuracy, consistency, and confidentiality.
    Generate, analyze, and interpret HR and payroll reports using Excel and HRIS reporting tools to support business decisions.
    Develop and maintain dashboards and workforce metrics (e.g., turnover, headcount, absenteeism, recruitment activity, training compliance).
    Support automation and data integrity projects to streamline HR operations and enhance reporting capabilities.
    Provide accurate HR data to Finance and other departments for audits, budgeting, and workforce planning.
  2. Payroll Review & Administration (20%)
    Review and validate payroll data, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, leaves, and deductions.
    Collaborate with Payroll and Finance teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely, accurate payroll processing.
    Approve payroll inputs in accordance with internal deadlines and established controls.
    Respond to employee payroll and benefits inquiries while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
    Support process improvements that strengthen payroll accuracy and compliance.
  3. Employee Relations & Organizational Support (30%)
    Advise managers on HR policies, employee relations, and conflict resolution.
    Support investigations, disciplinary actions, grievances, and performance improvement plans.
    Promote employee engagement, recognition, and attendance improvement initiatives.
    Assist with the implementation and interpretation of collective agreements and represent the company in joint labour-management committees.
    Contribute to change management efforts, performance management cycles, and employee well-being initiatives.
  4. Recruitment & Onboarding (10%)
    Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, screening, interviewing, and background checks.
    Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities to ensure a positive employee experience.
    Partner with marketing to enhance employer branding and promote recruitment campaigns through social media and other channels.
    Maintain recruitment metrics and generate related reports.
  5. HR Compliance & Policy Management (10%)
    Monitor and ensure compliance with employment legislation, internal policies, and collective agreements.
    Conduct HR audits and recommend corrective actions to uphold compliance and consistency.
    Maintain up-to-date HR documentation, including handbooks, policies, and standard operating procedures.
    Support investigations and provide documentation for legal, Ministry, or union-related matters when required.
  6. Ad Hoc Responsibilities

  7. Support HR projects, site visits, and other initiatives as assigned by the National Director, Human Resources.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive HR experience with exposure to HRIS management, payroll processing, and HR reporting.
Strong understanding of employment and labour relations principles.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, XLOOKUPs, charts, and data analysis).
Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, Ceridian, EmployerD, etc.).
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and integrity.

Working Conditions

Office-based position with flexibility to visit client sites as needed.
May require occasional extended hours during payroll or reporting cycles.
