Job summary

Qualcomm Canada ULC is seeking a Software Engineering & AI Co-op student for a 4-month internship in Toronto. You will build full-stack applications, develop AI-powered tools, and automate ASIC design workflows using React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and modern web tech.

You will collaborate with software, hardware, firmware, AI, and DevOps teams, mentor-guided with real-world impact, and receive a housing stipend for the duration of the internship.

Qualifications

• Pursuing CS/Software Engineering or related degree.
• Experience building full-stack apps using React, Node.js and PostgreSQL.
• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL, REST API, Git and Linux fundamentals.
• Understanding of LLMs, generative AI, AI agents, tool calling, and orchestration.
• Interest or experience in AI-assisted CAD/design or engineering workflows.
• Strong problem-solving and quick-learning abilities.

Responsibilities

• Build full-stack web applications with React frontend and Node.js backend.
• Develop backend services and APIs using Node.js.
• Design and work with PostgreSQL databases.
• Build AI-powered tools and agentic workflows, including integrating LLMs with tools and APIs.

Role Overview:

Qualcomm develops leading-edge ASIC and SoC solutions spanning compute, connectivity, and AI acceleration, including Snapdragon processors. Our team focuses on connectivity and data-center silicon, developing advanced ASIC/SoC solutions for high-bandwidth networking, infrastructure compute, and AI workloads. We are looking for a motivated Software Engineering & AI Co-op student to build full-stack applications, AI-powered tools, and automation for ASIC design flow. We’re looking for someone who has hands‑on experience with Node.js, React, PostgreSQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, modern web technologies and project management, plus an interest in applying AI to real engineering problems.

• Building responsive web applications using React
• Developing backend services and APIs using Node.js
• Designing and working with PostgreSQL databases
• Building AI-powered tools and agentic workflows, including orchestrating AI agents and integrating LLMs with tools, APIs, and engineering systems
• Exploring AI-assisted CAD/design and engineering automation
• Improving developer tools, testing, automation, and engineering workflows
• Collaborating across software, hardware, firmware, AI, and DevOps teams
• AI assisted project management, including tracking tasks and deliverables, coordinating across teams, following up on action items, and helping keep projects on track

Minimum Qualifications:

• Pursuing Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or a related degree
• Demonstrated experience building full-stack applications using React, Node.js, and PostgreSQL
• Strong JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL, REST API, Git, and Linux fundamentals
• Understanding of LLMs, generative AI, AI agents, tool calling, and agent orchestration
• Interest or experience in AI-assisted CAD/design or engineering workflows
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to learn and build quickly

Preferred Qualifications:

• Python and experience with LLM APIs, RAG, or agent frameworks
• CAD/EDA, design automation, or hardware/software experience
• C/C++, networking, Docker, CI/CD, or automated testing
• Personal, academic, or internship projects demonstrating full-stack or AI development

Education Requirements:

• In study towards a bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or related field
• For 4-month internships: must be available January 2027 - April/May 2027
• Expected graduation date of November 2027 or later.
• 1+ years of academic experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Python, etc

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$54,600.00 - $103,350.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunity for annual RSU grants (employees on sales‑incentive plans are not eligible for our annual bonus).
