Job description

Explore this exciting newly created role as Fund Accountant with our Client, a respected Regina real estate investment fund manager.

As Fund Accountant, you will play a key role managing the financial records of investment entities, with responsibilities that include:

1 Accounting
  • Full cycle accounting duties, including account analysis and reconciliations, reporting and administration, preparation of financial statements, tax remittances, etc for two Management entities, a Real estate Income Fund GP and a Real Estate Income Fund LP.
2 Real Estate Income Fund LP
  • Prepare and work closely with third party auditors on annual audits.
  • Prepare and produce monthly External Financial Statements.
  • Receive and analyze financial data from affiliates/property managers on a monthly basis, incorporate data into the Fund’s accounting records on at least a monthly basis.
  • Prepare tax filings, analyze and file tax slips on behalf of the Real Estate Income Fund’s behalf, specifically T5013s.
3 Governance
  • Provide accurate and timely input of database information and assess/enhance the Limited Partner database capabilities.
  • Build a strong knowledge of, maintain and assess KYC (Know your Customer) policies to optimize verification and financial processes.
  • Maintain and improve analysis and reporting of regulatory and unitholder reports.
4 Real Estate
  • Aid in the data collection and financial analysis of existing properties and new acquisitions.
  • Build and maintain strong Investor relations.
  • Be adaptable to work on various related projects, and demonstrate the initiative to research, learn and expand responsibilities.

As the successful applicant you will bring:

Education
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business Administration
  • CPA designation or pursuing a CPA.
Experience
  • Knowledge of investment funds, real estate/equity and regulations is a definite asset.
  • 2-5+ years of full cycle professional accounting experience. A real estate and investment background is an asset and/or an interest in growing your career in this area.
Computer
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, outlook, accounting software and systems.

  • Has the ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment and be a self-starter who is able to identify and resolve issues.

Start date: Negotiable

Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 8:00-5:00, with some flexibility in hours Overtime as needed to meet financial deadlines.

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
