Job description
Overview

PermitFlow is building AI agents for the $1.6T construction industry. We’re creating the leading pre-construction platform, starting with the $12B permitting market.

Our platform automates the slow, manual permitting process for builders, covering everything from jurisdiction research to application preparation, submission, and real-time tracking. By transforming fragmented regulations and manual workflows into structured, intelligent systems, we help contractors move faster, reduce risk, and scale with confidence.

We've raised $36.5M+ with Kleiner Perkins leading our Series A, joined by Initialized Capital, Y Combinator, Felicis Ventures, and Altos Ventures. Our backers include founders and executives from OpenAI, Google, Procore, ServiceTitan, Zillow, PlanGrid, and Uber.

We are a team of architects, engineers, permitting experts, and product builders who have felt the pain of pre-construction firsthand and are committed to fixing it. Demand is growing faster than we can meet, and we’re hiring top talent to help us scale.

What You’ll Do
  • Transform complex, manual permitting workflows into seamless, AI-enabled software experiences.
  • Design and implement backend and frontend services, APIs, and data pipelines to support AI-driven workflows.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Customer Success, and Sales to deliver intelligent, user-facing features.
  • Work directly with users to shape product direction and rapidly ship features that drive impact.
  • Own features end-to-end, from architecture and implementation to testing and production deployment.
  • Help establish engineering best practices and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.
What We’re Looking For
  • Strong experience in fullstack development, ideally including time at a startup or fast-moving team
  • Comfortable owning features across frontend, backend, and data layers
  • Experience with React, TypeScript, Node.js, and Postgres, or ability to learn quickly
  • Track record of shipping production systems and making thoughtful trade-offs for speed, reliability, and scalability
  • Excitement for AI-powered tools that solve real-world construction challenges and a customer-first mindset
Benefits
  • Equity packages
  • Competitive Salary
  • 100% Paid health, dental & vision coverage
  • Company issued laptop
  • Lunch & Dinner provided via UberEats w / a fully stocked kitchen
  • Commuter benefits
  • Team building events
  • Unlimited PTO
Interview Process

  • Take-home coding assessment (2-3 hours)
  • 1 hour live-coding interview
  • 1 hour system design interview
  • Culture interview with Hiring Manager
  • Reference checks
