Job summary

Doman Building Materials Group is seeking a General Labourer for the Cranbrook, BC site. You will work in post, rail, and chipping operations with a focus on safety and quality in a demanding outdoor environment.

Responsibilities include wood cutting, measuring, sorting, stacking, and operating feeding devices. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 pounds, work 10‑hour shifts, and wear protective gear. Prior wood processing experience is desirable.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds (23 kilograms) safely.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
• Must be able to work outdoors year round in varying temperatures.
• Must wear steel-toed boots.
• Experience in wood processing or lumber yard is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Strict adherence to health and safety requirements including attendance at safety meetings.
• Perform housekeeping to keep the work area safe and clean.
• Cutting, measuring, sorting and stacking wood products.
• Manually feed machines in the peeling and chipping process.
• Inspect and measure wood pieces to mark cuts and verify accuracy.
• Set equipment controls to meet cutting specifications.
• Inspect wood products for imperfections and remove as required.
• Count, sort, and stack finished wood pieces.
• Guide wood pieces against saws and operate automatic feeding devices.
• Dispose of trash and waste materials as required.
