Job Description

• Analyze hair and scalp condition and provide basic treatment or advice on beauty care treatments for scalp and hair
• Suggest hair style compatible with client’s physical features and determine style from client’s instructions and preferences
• Clean and style wigs and hair pieces
• Apply bleach, tints, dyes or rinses to colour, frost or streak hair
• Cut, trim, taper, curl, wave, perm and style hair
• Apply hair extensions
• Book appointments
• Shampoo and rinse customer’s hair
• May perform receptionist duties
• Maintain and order supplies

Requirements

• Education: Some secondary school education is required.
• Experience: Completion of a two or three-year hairstyling apprenticeship program or completion of a college or other program in hairstyling combined with on-the-job training or several years of experience are required to become certified.
• Trade certification for hairstylists is required.

Important Information

The selected candidate will work 5 days a week from 9 am to 5:30 pm (It includes 60 minutes of unpaid lunch time and 2 healthy breaks of 20 minutes each which are paid). Wednesday and Sundays are off. However, flexibility on schedule is required depending on the business’ needs, and so, occasional work on Wednesdays may be needed. Overtime may be required. On Sundays, the business is closed.
