Job description

Northern Gateway Public Schools invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Education Assistant at Elmer Elson Elementary School, Mayerthorpe, Alberta.

Successful candidate responsibilities:
  • Provide support to students in the elementary classroom environment
  • Follow the direction of the Inclusive Education Facilitator and classroom teacher
  • Implement goals as outlined by the Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, and Behavioral Specialist
Preference will be given to candidates who:
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, parents, and staff
  • Work collaboratively and co-operatively with teachers and other educational assistants in the classroom/school
  • Understand and carry out oral and written direction
  • Work independently with minimal instruction
  • Demonstrate effective organizational and communication skills
  • Respect confidentiality
  • Practice professionalism with all EEE School students, staff, administration, parents, and community
  • Are aware of NGPS policies and administrative procedures
  • Have experience working with young childrenHave an understanding of the teaching/learning process in an elementary environment
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and patience
  • Enjoy working in a team environment
