A municipal government body is seeking a Full-Time Certified Tradesperson (Industrial Mechanic or Millwright) to maintain mechanical systems at the Water Filtration Plant. $36.86 per hour (2025) (In accordance with CUPE 210 Agreement)

(Rate of Pay with Water Treatment Licensing - $37.64 - $39.19 per hour)

Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Millwright plays a key role in the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems at the Water Filtration Plant.

DUTIES
  • Maintain all Mechanical installations and systems at Water Filtration Plant and facilities;
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment and installations including after hour emergencies;
  • Carry out work in Confined space in accordance with Provincial Regulations and City SOPs.
  • Overhaul pumps, valves, mixers, other and installations;
  • Install new services and equipment;
  • Perform maintenance on building operating and safety systems;
  • Perform regular inspections;
  • Maintain up to date records and review drawings of work performed;
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks and procedures;
  • Work within the CMMS including filling in work orders, reports and requests;
  • Communicate status of work orders and work plans with Supervisor;
  • Participate in and support capital project work when needed;
  • Attend all Health and Safety and trade related training as required;
  • Perform duties of Water Treatment Maintenance Operator as required;
  • Participate in Weekly On-Call Rotation with other Water Treatment Maintenance Operators.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • College level diploma in an applicable field;
  • Possess a valid Red Seal in accordance with the Interprovincial Standards Red Seal Program in the Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) discipline;
  • Water Treatment & Water Distribution & Supply Operator-in-Training (OIT) licences (completed within probationary period);
  • Water Treatment Class 1 licence (within 18 months of hire); WT & WD Class 2-4 Levels is an asset;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a mechanical maintenance position,
  • Experience in working with a variety of mechanical systems – 0.5 to 500 hp motors and pumps, actuated and manual isolation and control valves, mixers, chain of flights, etc.;
  • Knowledge, skills and experience in mechanical plans and take-offs;
  • Experience working with SCADA or PLC systems;
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to understand technical data and specifications;
  • Ability to prioritize work requests and assignments;
  • Basic understanding and experience with computers would be an asset;
  • Applicants must possess a valid G Ontario Driver’s License with a clear driving abstract;
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely and follow OSHA regulations;
  • Working at heights certification an asset;
  • Candidate must be physically fit and capable of performing physically demanding work in all types of weather;
  • Employees are required to wear CSA approved respiratory protection and remain clean shaven in the area of the seal;
  • Good communication skills – written and oral;
  • Ability to work individually and in a team environment;
  • Current WHMIS certificate an asset.
