COBS Bread in Calgary is seeking a personable Baker to start early mornings, bake fresh bread from carefully crafted recipes, and contribute to a warm, community‑minded bakery.

No experience is necessary—just the right attitude and a willingness to learn. You will join a small team, handle multiple stations, and help deliver excellent customer service while upholding HACCP and food safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Willing to work overnight or early morning shifts.
  • Able to work independently or in a small team.
  • Proud of the product and community impact; positive attitude and strong organizational skills.
  • Maintain Health and Safety, Food Safety (HACCP) standards while upholding COBS brand standards.
  • Food safety and Basic First Aid certifications are assets.
  • Provide support to the bakery team and foster good working relationships.
  • Delight customers with friendly service in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to multi-task and work across stations.
  • Experience at COBS or similar bakery is an asset.

Your Role as Baker

As a Baker at COBS Bread you will lead our freshness commitment. Bakers start their days with an empty bakery but when they leave—it's filled with the artisan bread and delicious treats for the community to enjoy. Right now, we are looking for personable Bakers to share their love of fresh bread with our loyal customers. No experience necessary- just the right attitude and a willingness to learn.

What Your Day Looks Like
  • Work as part of a small team to bake each morning, following carefully crafted recipes
  • Work alongside your team to keep the bakery clean, and contribute to a great customer experience
  • Be responsible for reading production schedules and recipes, measuring and mixing ingredients, moulding and shaping dough, and processing everything through the ovens
Requirements
  • You should be willing to work overnight or early morning shifts, as a COBS baker starts work between midnight and 4am
  • You can work independently or as part of a small team
  • You have pride in what COBS offers the community
  • You have a great attitude and good organizational skills
  • Maintain Health and Safety, Food Safety (HACCP) standards while upholding COBS brand standards
  • Food safe and Basic First Aid certifications are an asset
  • Provide support to the whole bakery team, demonstrate team work and foster good working relationships
  • Provide delightful customer service
  • Able to work in a fast‑paced environment while meeting tight deadlines
  • Able to multi‑task and flexible to work in different stations
  • Prior experience of working at COBS or similar fast paced bakery environment is an asset
Physical Requirements
  • Continuous standing/walking for all tasks
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 22 kg
  • Frequent turning and reaching
  • Occasional pushing, pulling and some forward bending
  • Constant use of both hands, with frequent wrist rotation and flexing, occasional forceful gripping
