Job description

Location: Toronto, Ontario

A venture-backed, fast-growing software company is building an R&D platform for scientists and engineers developing physical products, including advanced materials and industrial formulations. The platform helps teams run, track, and learn from experiments. The technical work involves modeling data with real-world uncertainty, units, provenance, and changing scientific context, making it meaningfully different from conventional business software.

The engineering team works in an agent-forward environment. AI agents already support a significant portion of day-to-day code changes, with engineers closely reviewing the work. Much of the team’s focus is on designing, improving, and maintaining the systems and guardrails that guide AI-assisted development, rather than hand-writing every line of code. New graduates are introduced to this way of working from day one. No previous experience with AI-assisted development is required, but curiosity and a willingness to learn are important.

The company is opening a new engineering hub in Toronto and is hiring its first group of Toronto-based new graduates. As a Full-Stack Software Engineer, you will build the web application scientists use to upload, manage, and analyze experimental data. The role is approximately split between front-end and back-end development on a platform used by large enterprise customers. This is an in-person position based in the company’s Toronto office, five days per week, with a 2027 start date. There may be some flexibility for exceptional candidates.

Must Have Skills:

Graduating in 2027 from the University of Waterloo or University of Toronto (Computer Science, Software/Computer Engineering, or a closely related program); strong, relevant co-op or internship experience in software development; solid computer science and software engineering fundamentals; comfort with modern JavaScript/TypeScript practices; genuine interest in building data-analysis-driven interfaces and in working within an AI-assisted engineering workflow.

Nice to Have Skills:

Familiarity with React and ES6; familiarity with SQL databases, including query performance optimization; experience with Python (Flask) and Postgres; comfort working with AI coding tools.
