Overview

The Software Engineer role is responsible for contributing to the development of high-quality software solutions. You will work collaboratively in an agile environment, participating in the design, development, testing, and deployment of applications. This role involves writing clean, efficient code, engaging in code reviews, and continuously improving development practices. You will also support the team in maintaining technical standards and delivering reliable software aligned with OFX guidelines.

This role works closely with colleagues in various regions and would require variability in start and finish times to support a global team or to meet business needs, with advance notice and fair rotation.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with tech leads and engineering managers to deliver quality code and participate in code reviews.
  • Write efficient, maintainable code that adheres to OFX coding standards and industry best practices.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
  • Identify and help address areas of technical debt and opportunities for refactoring.
  • Support agile team activities including deployments, QA, and level 3 support when needed.
  • Participate in design discussions and contribute to proof-of-concept initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Qualifications

What you bring

  • 3-5 years of experience in commercial software development.
  • Strong knowledge of web technologies including HTML/CSS.
  • Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks, especially React.js, TypeScript, and Node.js.
  • Experience working with AWS environments (Node.js, CDK).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies such as TDD, Kanban, and Shift Left.
  • Experience with AWS services including CDK, Lambdas, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and EventBridge.
  • Ability to write scalable, reusable UI components with appropriate testing.
  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with unit testing and working with acceptance criteria frameworks.
  • Understanding of application architectures and service-oriented design.
  • Experience working with RESTful APIs.
  • Familiarity with Git and GitHub for source control.

Desirable Experience

  • Exposure to container technologies like Docker.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and configuration management.
  • Experience working with Design Language Systems.
Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $115,000 to $130,000 CAD. Exact salary offered will be dependent on multiple factors including level of experience, job-related knowledge, skills, work location, etc. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for a variable bonus.

We also offer a flexible hybrid working model where employees typically work 1-2 days from our downtown Edmonton office.
