Job summary

TD Asset Management (TDAM) seeks a software engineer to develop and maintain front-end and back-end applications. You will build responsive interfaces with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React, while supporting back-end work with Python/Node.js and APIs.

Collaborate with data scientists and engineers on the Business Innovation team to enable data-driven decisions. Role adapts to applicant skills and team needs, located in Toronto, with base and variable compensation consideration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years work experience preferred.
  • Foundational understanding of software development principles, data structures, algorithms, and OOP.
  • Knowledge of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React or similar framework.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, databases, Git, Agile delivery practices, and debugging tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, ability to work in a team.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Exposure to CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other databases.
  • Familiarity with Python data libraries, dashboards, automation, ML, or GenAI concepts is an asset.
  • Experience with Jira, GitHub, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

TD Asset Management (TDAM), a member of TD Bank Financial Group, is a leading North American investment manager offering progressive investment solutions to both institutional and individual investors. For over two decades, the organization has established competitive market positions in active, quantitative, and passive portfolio management. As of December 31, 2025, TDAM and its affiliates manage over $508 billion in assets on behalf of pension, insurance, endowment/foundation, and corporate clients, as well as high-net worth clients and retail mutual funds.

In attaining this client commitment, TDAM has built one of Canada’s largest and most respected investment management and research teams with more than 220 Portfolio Managers, Associate Portfolio Managers, Traders and Analysts.

TDAM Business Innovation accountabilities include creating A.I solutions and analytics for TDAM in order to increase productivity and generate revenue.

Work closely with data scientists and software engineers on the Business Innovation team to enable data-driven decision making for the business. Role will be tailored based on applicant skills and team needs.

Main job functions include
  • Develop, test, debug, and maintain front-end and back-end applications
  • Build responsive user interfaces using modern web technologies (ie, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript etc)
  • Support back-end development and webapps (ie, technologies such as React, Plotly Dash ,Python, Node.js, FastAPI, Flask, etc)
  • Participate in code reviews, testing cycles, troubleshooting, and defect resolution.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code that follows team standards and software engineering best practices
  • Assist with deployment, version control, and continuous improvement activities (ie. Git, cloud platforms etc).
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute ideas to improve tools, processes, and user experience
Qualifications

  • Highly motivated to learn and adopt new technologies

  • knowledge of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and React or a similar framework.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, databases, Git, Agile delivery practices, and debugging tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Exposure to CI/CD tools, containers, automated testing, or DevOps practices.
  • Experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or other relational and non-relational databases.
  • Familiarity with Python data libraries, dashboarding tools, automation, machine learning, or GenAI concepts is an asset.
  • Experience working in Agile teams and using tools such as Jira, GitHub, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
  • Good business and technical writing / communication skills
  • High attention to detail
