Job description
Overview

We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Developer to join our Calgary-based team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python, JavaScript, and RESTful API development, with experience in front-end frameworks such as React or Angular. The developer will work in an Agile development environment, contributing to the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of scalable web applications.

Responsibilities
  • Backend Development (Python - 50%): Develop and maintain backend services using Python. Implement and optimize RESTful APIs for seamless front-end integration. Work with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and ORM frameworks.
  • Frontend Development (JavaScript/TypeScript - 30%): Develop user-facing applications using React or Angular. Ensure high performance and responsiveness of front-end components. Implement best practices in UI/UX for scalable and responsive design.
  • API Development (RESTful API - 20%): Design and develop RESTful APIs to connect applications. Implement authentication, authorization, and security best practices.
  • Development Workflow & Testing: Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment. Maintain code versioning and CI/CD pipelines using Git and DevOps practices. Write and execute unit tests using Pytest, Jest, or other testing frameworks. Conduct debugging, performance tuning, and software optimization.
  • Process Improvement & Documentation: Write and maintain technical documentation for developed applications. Research and implement new technologies to improve existing processes. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior developers when needed.
Must-Have — Required Qualifications & Skills
  • 5+ years of software development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Python (Django, Flask, or FastAPI).
  • Experience with React or Angular for front-end development.
  • Hands-on experience with RESTful API development and integration.
  • Knowledge of unit testing frameworks (Pytest, Jest, Mocha, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Git, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and software release processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a passion for innovation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-Have
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and microservices architecture.
  • Exposure to GraphQL and WebSockets for real-time applications.
  • Experience with message queues (RabbitMQ, Kafka, etc.).

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $46.23/hour - $72.23/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
