Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods Inc. is seeking an FSQA Audit and Compliance Supervisor to lead internal audit and claim verification programs, prepare for Maple Leaf audits, BRCGS and customer audits, and support HACCP systems and QA programs.

You will work with cross-functional teams to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include liaising with CFIA, coordinating regulatory documentation, and updating HACCP/BRC programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Food Safety/Science program or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of Sanitation, HACCP, CCPs and GMPs.
  • Completion of BRCGS Internal Auditor training or an equivalent recognized internal auditor certification.
  • Experience preparing for and participating in BRCGS certification audits, preferably with responsibility for coordinating audit preparation and corrective action follow-up.
  • Experience conducting internal audits against HACCP, prerequisite programs, BRCGS and customer requirements.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in the Food industry preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively on a cross functional leadership team.
  • Experience thriving in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated alignment to the Maple Leaf Leadership Values.

Responsibilities

  • Execute plants Internal audit and claim verification programs.
  • Prepares and leads Maple Leaf internal audit, BRCGS and customer audits.
  • Liaise with CFIA, respond to inquiries, and coordinate the collection and submission of documentation required for regulatory tasks.
  • Assists with Food Safety and BRC meetings.
  • Execute various initiatives to improve the quality and safety of our process and products.
  • Ensure that critical food safety and quality data is tracked and trended for process understanding and continuous improvement purposes.
  • Assist with Non-Compliance Reports (Deviations) and in-house disposition of materials On Hold including completing Risk Assessments to determine product disposition.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating current HACCP system, BRC and business unit Food Safety and Quality programs and/or SOPs.
  • Assisting with follow up and issue any corrective actions, if necessary, based on deviations found in plant process or resulting from customer complaints or audits.
  • Assists with internal audits to comply with pre-requisites bullets, HACCP plans, BRC and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams weekly to review upcoming maintenance projects within the plant and coordinate construction containment requirements.
  • Verification of the monitors and paperwork.
  • Developing a constructive work environment through excellent interpersonal, team building skills, open communications, encouraging input and constructive performance management.
  • Actively participate in facility leadership meetings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams weekly to review upcoming maintenance projects within the plant and coordinate construction containment requirements.

Job description

The Opportunity:
As a member of the FSQA team, the FSQA Audit and Compliance Supervisor is accountable for leading the plant's internal audit and claim verification programs, preparing for and leading Maple Leaf, BRCGS and customer audits, and supporting the verification, maintenance and continuous improvement of the HACCP system and Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs. The Supervisor collaborates with cross-functional teams to address food safety and quality issues, drive corrective actions and support continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment. The Supervisor also serves as a liaison with CFIA, maintaining positive relationships and coordinating responses to regulatory inquiries and documentation requests.
