Job summary

John Abbott College’s Centre for Continuing Education seeks qualified instructors for Winter 2027 to teach the Database course (420-SA5-AB) within the Full Stack Developer program. Courses run online via Teams, Monday–Friday, 9:00am-12:00pm and 12:30pm-2:30pm.

Compensation is on a per-course basis under the college’s Charge de cours system. The ideal candidate holds a CS degree, has 3+ years industry experience, and substantial teaching background.

Qualifications

COMPUTER SCIENCE (420) – FULL STACK DEVELOPER

• Bachelor’s or equivalent* degree in Computer Science or a related field;
• Minimum of 3 years appropriate professional/industrial experience PREFERRED;
• Several years related teaching experience at the post-secondary level PREFERRED;
• Excellent English communication skills REQUIRED;
• Some testing may be REQUIRED.
• Bilingualism (English/French) and ability to teach in French are preferred, as in the context of Bill 96 and the changes to the Charte de la langue française, if there is a need, the candidate must be willing and able to teach in French.
• Equivalent establishes a general comparison between two official education systems

In accordance with art. 4-4.04 of the Collective Agreement, the Selection Committee may, exceptionally, recommend to the College that pertinent additional professional and/or industrial experience be considered in lieu of the stated minimum educational requirement. Candidates to be considered under this option must have completed at least the equivalent of a DEC or AEC. Education superior to the stated minimum requirement may be substituted for professional/industrial experience at the discretion of the selection committee.
