Job summary

Edmonton-Region-Child-Care-Association (ERCCA) is seeking a part-time educator to provide one-on-one support for a child with diverse needs at ERCCA Jan Reimer, located inside Jan Reimer School. The contract runs until June 30, 2027, with the option to extend based on program needs.

The shift is 3:00-6:00pm, Monday to Friday. The role emphasizes teamwork, documentation, and communication with families, aligned with the Flight Framework.

Qualifications

• Alberta Level 1, 2 or 3 child care certification required.
• Experience in child care and with diverse needs is an asset.
• Valid first aid certification and recent vulnerable sector police check required.

Responsibilities

• Provide one on one support to children as needed.
• Collaborate within a team of child care educators.
• Support weekly program plans reflecting children's interests and Flight Framework values.
• Document learning through pedagogical documentation and learning stories for families.
• Communicate daily with families about activities and expectations.
• Closely supervise children at all times, maintaining ratios.
• Foster positive relationships with children and families.
• Encourage independence and responsibility in children.
• Model appropriate behaviours per Behaviour Guidance Policy.
• Daily cleaning and organizing of the program space.

Job description

ERCCA Jan Reimer is recruiting a part time educator to work one on one with a child with diverse needs. This contract position is until June 30, 2027, with the option to extend to become permanent based on program needs.

The shift would be 3:00-6:00pm Monday to Friday at ERCCA Jan Reimer, located inside Jan Reimer School.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Level 1, 2 or 3 child care certification issued by the province of Alberta
• Experience in child care
• Experience working with children with diverse needs in a support role an asset.
• Valid first aid certification
• Clear police check including vulnerable sector, issued in the last 6 months.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Provide one on one support to children in our program when needed
• Work collaboratively within a team of child care educators
• Support weekly program plans reflective of children's interests, and the values and goals of the Flight Framework.
• Document children's learning through pedagogical documentation and learning stories shared with families through parent communication app.
• Communicate daily with families regarding program activities and expectations.
• Closely supervise children at all times, always maintaining child/educator ratios.
• Create and maintain positive relationships with children and their families.
• Encourage children to foster independence and to be responsible for themselves and their actions.
• Model appropriate behaviours, guide children's behaviour according to the Behaviour Guidance Policy.
• Daily cleaning and organizing of program space as needed.
