Position Summary

Silver Valley Farms Ltd. is a fast paced, high-volume farm and fruit packing facility in Maple Ridge. We are currently seeking a full time Frozen Production Shift Supervisor. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, reliable and responsible.

Responsibilities
  • Complies with all safety rules, procedures, and work practices. Report all safety incidents.
  • Complies with good manufacturing practices.
  • Keeps work areas and equipment clean and in order. Assist with the cleaning and sanitation of production areas and/or equipment.
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of equipment, and resources; maintaining compliance with safety, food safety and food quality procedures.
  • Completes production plan; monitoring progress; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow.
  • Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing equipment; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process. Partners with maintenance personnel and contractors to solve and analyze breakdowns.
  • Sets up line for startup and sanitation. Sets line speed to achieve production targets.
  • Eliminates sources of spills through continuous improvement activities.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance team to monitor semi-finished product temperatures and record freezer temperatures, monitor chlorine levels and ensure quick sanitations during breaks and meals.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance team to detect and eliminate foreign matter.
  • Initiates and fosters a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Ensures operation of equipment by evaluating freezing capacity with power engineer on shift, calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques.
  • CCP monitoring and responsible for corrective actions as required.
  • Keep track of employee attendance and performance. Recommends staffing actions such as hiring or duties adjustments.
  • Any other tasks assigned by Production Manager.
Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in a related field.
  • 1- 2 years supervisory/production experience in soft fruit industry or food processing industry
  • Experience in and proven understanding of food safety and quality assurance
  • Excellent problem solving, leadership and communication skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication (English).
  • Own transportation.
