Job description

Wage: $17.60/hour
Employment type: Part time

Duties:

  • Safely operate a box truck or similar commercial vehicle to deliver products to designated locations.
  • Load and unload delivery items, ensuring proper handling of pharmaceuticals and related products.
  • Plan efficient delivery routes to maximize productivity and meet delivery schedules.
  • Provide friendly and professional customer service during deliveries, addressing any questions or concerns.
  • Maintain accurate delivery records and documentation in accordance with company policies.
  • Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Assist with warehouse tasks such as moving stock using forklifts or pallet jacks when necessary.

Working Conditions:

The delivery driver work occurs primarily in a company vehicle, driving to locations such as private homes, group homes, hospices and depots both locally and over long distances. They will be flexible to work a variety of shifts including days, evening weekends and holidays. They will be frequently in a front shop setting when they are picking up orders to be delivered.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a delivery driver, courier, or similar role involving route driving.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating box trucks or heavy vehicles preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling of goods safely.
  • Familiarity with warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks is advantageous.
  • Experience with manual transmission vehicles is preferred but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

The delivery driver spends majority of their shift sitting in a vehicle. They must be able to stand/walk, lift, push, pull carry or otherwise move objects of varying weights regularly. Occasionally you will be required to lift up to 50lbs, unassisted and bend, twist and reach to move merchandise or other items. They also will be required to interact frequently and regularly with customers, other team members, and external companies by phone and in person. They are required to drive in different lighting conditions (daylight, nighttime, etc.) and all kinds of weather including most extreme weather.
