We’re seeking an experienced Front-End Developer to support our client, a major provincial energy utility, in the modernization and enhancement of enterprise applications and customer-facing digital platforms. This role focuses on designing and developing high-performance, responsive, and accessible web interfaces that align with the client’s digital transformation strategy.

About the Role

This 29-month onsite contract is central to the client’s digital services modernization initiative. The Front-End Developer will work closely with back-end developers, designers, and business stakeholders to deliver modern, accessible, and scalable digital experiences for employees and customers alike. The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, and passionate about building intuitive, high-performing web applications.

Mandatory Education & Experience
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of front-end development experience in enterprise or large-scale environments.
  • Hands-on experience with UI/UX collaboration, wireframing, and translating designs into functional interfaces.
  • Experience integrating front-end components with .NET or Java-based back-end systems.
  • Knowledge of web security best practices, authentication (OAuth 2.0, SSO), and performance optimization.
  • Experience working within agile development teams using tools such as JIRA, Git, and Azure DevOps.
  • Previous work in utilities, energy, or public-sector organizations is an asset.
Desired Certifications
  • Certification in Front-End Web Development, React Developer, or Angular Developer.
  • Agile/Scrum or PMI-ACP certification (asset).
Preferred Experience
  • Expertise in responsive design systems and component-based architecture.
  • Familiarity with Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch for prototyping and design collaboration.
  • Experience implementing web accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA) and usability standards.
  • Integration with REST and GraphQL APIs and microservices-based environments.
  • Knowledge of Azure or AWS cloud hosting and CI/CD pipelines for front-end deployment.
  • Understanding of data visualization libraries (D3.js, Chart.js, or Power BI Embedded).
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and refactor legacy front-end codebases.
  • Experience contributing to enterprise design systems or UI component libraries.
  • Design, development, and deployment of responsive front-end components and applications.
  • Implementation of secure, performant, and scalable user interfaces integrated with enterprise APIs.
  • Collaboration with UI/UX teams to ensure consistency, accessibility, and usability across platforms.
  • Creation of unit and integration test suites for front-end components.
  • Documentation of UI standards, architecture, and deployment workflows.
  • Participation in agile ceremonies, sprint planning, and cross-team collaboration sessions.
  • Knowledge transfer and technical mentorship to internal development teams.
