Front Counter Clerk (RCMP Support Services)

The City of Pitt Meadows is hiring a Front Counter Clerk to provide general administrative support, assisting the public with inquiries, and transcribing statements for police files. This is an exciting opportunity to join our new RCMP detachment and help build something great from the ground up.

Reporting to the Manager of RCMP Support Services, this position performs various and complex clerical work. Incumbents will process Police Information Checks and Vulnerable Sector Checks; assist in creating police files; prepare and maintain various records, files, and reports; explain rules and regulations; transcribe audio and/or video statements from witnesses, victims, and accused individuals; and maintain detachment security by ensuring non-detachment personnel are identified and authorized. This position exercises considerable independent judgement, while referring more complex issues to a superior who also reviews work for conformance and effectiveness. Regular working hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm with a 35‑hour workweek. This position is anticipated to start in February/March 2026.

Qualifications
  • Completion of Grade 12, including or supplemented by word processing, commercial and relevant police database courses, plus sound related experience, preferably in an RCMP detachment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Sound knowledge of the procedures used in police databases and word processing software (I.e., PRIME, JUSTIN, CPIC).
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with sound knowledge of business English.
  • Ability to transcribe verbatim audio and/or video statements through strong and accurate typing skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an RCMP Security Clearance.
    • Please note, the ability to obtain and maintain RCMP Security Clearance is required by the start date, and is a condition of employment. If you have an active clearance, please indicate your HRMIS number on your application.
