Job summary

Durham District School Board is seeking a Long-Term Occasional Teacher (LTO) to join our elementary team in Whitby, Ontario. The role centers on guiding Grade 4 homeroom and Core French instruction, aligned with the Ontario curriculum, with OCT in good standing required.

As part of a diverse, inclusive classroom community, you will assess student progress, collaborate with colleagues and parents, and adapt lessons to meet student needs.

Qualifications

  • Grade(s)/assignments: Core French and Grade 4 Homeroom
  • Required subject qualifications: J/I; French
  • FTE: 1.0
  • Ontario teaching certificate (OCT) in good standing
  • FSL qualifications and successful completion of the Boards written French competency test are required. The test will be administered to person’s if/when they are recommended for a specific French position following an interview.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons that align with the curriculum and support student learning.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback to help students grow.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the community to enhance student learning.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.
