Job summary

Kouvre Inc. is seeking a Founding CTO to own all engineering for an AI agent platform serving independent restaurant owners. You will architect and build the agent, integrations, and infrastructure largely with your own hands, while growing the team around you.

You decide what to build and how, in partnership with the founder. In this early-stage role, you will shape the technical moat, reliability, and product velocity across multi-platform integrations, guiding the company from inception

Responsibilities

• Own agent platform architecture: orchestration, tool-use, guardrails, and recovery across real-world use cases.
• Build and run integrations across platforms like UberEats, DoorDash, Skip, Google, Meta and the open web.
• Oversee deployment, data models, pipelines, and observability to verify actions before owners see results.
• Define product and engineering velocity: what ships and how fast, with a bias for reliability and impact.
• Lead and grow the engineering team as we scale, starting with a Founding AI Engineer partner.
• Establish the technical moat and ensure reliability across non-API-enabled platforms.

Job description

Kouvre is the AI agent for restaurants. Independent owners text it like an employee and it runs the business for them: launching promos, fixing menus, changing prices, replying to reviews, building their website, all across UberEats, DoorDash, and Skip at once. No dashboards, no second job. We're already making restaurants money. One BOGO at a Montreal spot, launched by a single text, lifted UberEats revenue by 1,000% on a slow Tuesday.

As our Founding CTO, you own all of engineering. In the first phase, you are engineering. You will architect and build the agent, the integrations, and the infrastructure largely with your own hands while we raise and grow the team around you. You are not inheriting a stack or a roadmap. You decide what we build and how, alongside the founder.

The Mission

• For the owner: Make a text feel like a competent employee. Every message an owner sends has to become the right action, on the right platform, reliably, so they can trust Kouvre with their business and get back to their kitchen.
• For the company: Build the technical moat. The hard part isn't calling a model. It's making real actions happen reliably across platforms that don't want to be automated. You own that.

What You'll Own

• The agent platform: The architecture that turns a plain-text message into reasoned, reliable action: orchestration, tool-use, guardrails, and recovery when the real world misbehaves.
• The integrations layer: The systems that act across UberEats, DoorDash, Skip, Google, Meta, and the open web, where there are no clean APIs and reliability is the whole game. This is the moat.
• Infrastructure and data: Deployment, pipelines, the data model, and the observability to know an action worked before the owner has to ask.
• Product and velocity: You make the calls on what ships and how fast, and you set the engineering culture: craft and shipping over process.
• The team: As we raise, you hire and lead the engineers behind you, starting with a Founding AI Engineer who partners with you on the agent's reasoning layer.

What We're Looking For

• Exceptional builder: You've shipped hard production systems end to end, as comfortable in infrastructure and integrations as in application code, and you move fast without breaking trust.
• Agent fluency: You understand modern LLM orchestration (tool-use, agents, evals) and know when a simple heuristic beats a clever model.
• Reliability obsession: You think in failure modes. "It worked in the demo" and "an owner can bet their dinner rush on it" are different products, and you build the second one.
• Ownership: You want the whole thing, not a slice. You thrive with an open canvas and a problem worth your career.
• Operator mindset: You care about the owner's outcome, not just the architecture diagram.
