Job summary

A chemical manufacturing firm located in Vaughan seeks a Forklift Operator to oversee the safe and efficient operation of forklifts during the night shift from 10 PM to 6 AM. The role involves loading and unloading trucks, conducting pre-shift inspections, and maintaining cleanliness in the work area. Candidates should have at least a Grade 12 education, forklift certification, and good communication skills. Previous manufacturing experience is a plus.

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Shipping Supervisor, this position is responsible for the Safe and Efficient operation of the forklift assigned to the Shipping area.

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK STRAIGHT NIGHT SHIFT (10PM-6AM)
PAY RATE: $24.25
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform a pre-shift inspection of the Forklift
  • Complete pre-shift Daily Inspection form and hand-in at the start of shift
  • Operate equipment/machinery following all Safety procedures
  • Load and unload trucks (Tautliner, van, container, Customer pick up etc.)
  • Report any equipment malfunctions to Shipping Lead Hands/ Supervisors
  • Monitor Quality of material and product being handled and report any deficiencies to Shipping Lead Hands/ Supervisors
  • Ensure that material (Piked orders) is stored in appropriate/designated staging areas
  • Ensure accuracy of material supplied to Customers
  • Maintain housekeeping/cleaning of equipment and around assigned work area
  • Participate in Department and Company meetings as applicable
  • Participate in mid and year-end inventory count if needed
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, as applicable
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Shipping Lead Hands/ Supervisors
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have completed Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Previous manufacturing experience is an asset but not a requirement
  • Forklift certification acquired through Company sponsored training program
  • Demonstrates ability to operate machinery safely and efficiently
  • Ability to complete reports accurately and legibly
  • Good communication skills
  • Team player, strong interpersonal skills
