The core responsibilities of this role include:

Position:Forklift Operator

Shift:M-F, afternoon shift

Pay:$23.25/hour

In addition to the general job description below, the ideal candidate will also possess the following skills and/or experience:

  • Certification and Experience: Require candidates to have a valid forklift operator certification or license. Experience operating different types of forklifts (e.g., counterbalance, dock stocker and reach truck) Crown brand should be preferred.
  • Safety Record: Look for candidates with a strong safety record. They should demonstrate adherence to safety protocols, and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Technical Skills: Assess proficiency in forklift operation techniques, including loading/unloading, stacking, and maneuvering in warehouse spaces. Familiarity with equipment maintenance and basic inspection is also beneficial.
  • Physical Ability: Forklift operators need to be physically fit and capable of lifting heavy objects (50lbs). Ensure candidates meet physical requirements for the job, such as the ability to operate controls MHE, and perform repetitive movements.
  • Attention to Detail: The job requires precision and attention to detail to inventory miss match, ensure accurate inventory management, and maintain warehouse organization. Look for candidates who demonstrate these qualities in their past work.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Forklift operators often work closely with other warehouse staff, group lead and supervisors. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively are essential.
  • Reliability and Punctuality: Dependability is crucial in warehouse operations. Seek candidates with a consistent work history and a track record of punctuality.

Role Purpose:

Responsible for operating powered equipment for the purpose of moving, locating, relocating, stacking, and counting product. Responsible for checking all inbound and outbound products. Ensures products are free of damage and infestation, product code dates are properly recorded and products match customer requirements.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Load, unload, move, stock, and stage products and materials using a forklift, clamp truck, or other power equipment 80% of specified shift.
  • Pull and prepare product for shipment ensuring the exact number and types of product is loaded.
  • Keep appropriate records and reports for inventory accuracy.
  • Comply with all OSHA and MSDS standards.
  • Verify load accuracy; check the load count, stability, and product damage, report variances as necessary.
  • Change equipment battery or LP tank and monitor power source as necessary.
  • Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
  • Assist in physical inventories.
  • Complete daily inspection of equipment.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Forklift operator certificate or satisfactory completion of a forklift-training program within the first 30 days of employment
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, preferred
  • Six months warehouse experience, preferred
  • Six months forklift operation experience
