Job summary

Canadian Kraft Paper Industries Ltd in The Pas, MB is seeking a Yard Scaler under the Scaling Supervisor to measure and record wood deliveries and ensure quality standards are met. You will help maintain uniform scaling practices across provincial and company regulations.

Responsibilities include weighing, logging, inventories, safety, and compliance with provincial regulations. Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision are essential.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to obtain Manitoba and Saskatchewan Scaling License.
• Knowledge in technical forestry and logging is an asset.
• Strong organizational, problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to changing priorities.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Excel is expected.

Responsibilities

• Weighing and stratifying log trucks at the scales and assessing log quality with safety focus.
• Monthly yard inventories and reporting; bush scaling as needed for volume assessments.
• Operate safely in accordance with rules, regulations and policies.
• Identify and eliminate safety hazards.
• Ensure consistency of log scaling activities.
• Ensure compliance with scaling regulations.
