Qualifications

  • Experience with block/road layout and cruising is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license and experience driving on forestry roads are required.

Forestry Technician (Timber Development)

Our Forest Technicians (Timber Development) are responsible for layout, cruising and drafting plans for blocks. They take pride in the strong working relationships they build along the way. The position is predominantly a field-based role, with limited office work during the year. We’re looking for an experienced Forestry Technician (Timber Development) for our Southern Interior Woodlands Division. This can be a seasonal or permanent position. The Southern Interior Woodlands Team manages Tolko's tenure and fibre supply in the Southern Interior of British Columbia, covering an area of 953,447 hectares. We are dedicated to sustaining these areas to the benefit of all who live and work there.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
  • Must be a registered Forest Professional of British Columbia (FPBC) and in good standing.
  • Complete a post‑secondary diploma or degree in forestry technology.
  • Has an unwavering commitment to safety.
  • Proven communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Can work independently and with a team.
  • Is physically capable of performing field work at various locations across the Okanagan Timber Supply Area (TSA).
  • A valid driver’s license and experience driving on forestry roads are required.
  • Has experience with block/road layout and cruising is an asset.
  • Has experience with Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), GIS, and other computer applications.
In this role you will:
  • Conduct layout, cruising and drafting plans for blocks.
  • Work primarily in the field with limited office work during the year.
  • Be required to work in all weather conditions.
  • Work within and between various teams.
  • Complete all duties in a safe, timely, cost‑effective and professional manner.
