Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Adult Forensic Services, as part of Shared Health Mental Health and Addictions, provides a variety of services and supports to persons who have severe and persistent mental illness who have come into conflict with the with the law. The Forensic Clinical Coordinator works closely with the Forensic Mental Health Service (FMHS), a multidisciplinary team who completes Court Ordered Assessments, and works with persons found Unfit to Stand Trial or Not Criminally Responsible on account of Mental Disorder (section 672.1, Canadian Criminal Code). This program also partners closely with the specialized Mental Health Court Docket, Manitoba Justice, Manitoba Corrections, and the inpatient forensic unit at the PsycHealth Centre.
The Forensic Clinical Coordinator is an integral resource to the FMHS, legal system, and the courts. The Forensic Clinical Coordinator acts as a liaison between Manitoba Justice, Manitoba Corrections, lawyers, and the FMHS related to Court Ordered Assessment questions and requests, as well as cases brought before the specialized Mental Health Court Docket. The main function of this position is to optimize the flow and completion of Court Ordered Assessments, as well as facilitate system navigation through the courts and forensic mental health pathways.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
