Position Summary

Required
- Grade 12 education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid Food Handlers Certificate from Public Health (one‑day online course).
- Good understanding of food and nutrition; able to follow recipes, measurements and portion control.
- Ability to withstand temperatures of 8–13 °C for periods of 2 hours.
- Effective communication with management, clients, suppliers and co‑workers.
- Work with minimum supervision and accomplish tasks in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining a polite, service attitude toward co‑workers and patients.
- Good writing skills to complete documentation that is part of Food Handling (HACCP) guidelines; file and maintain records for management and inspectors.
- Document food orders/supplies to maintain the department.
- Operate fax machines, printers, phone lines and other office equipment (including tablets and computers).
- Answer questions and take corrective actions with Local Public Health Representatives.
- Work independently and with a team.
- Maintain satisfactory work performance in the present position.
- Be flexible and adapt to changes in scheduled hours, work assignments, environment and style of service.
- Adjust to a constantly changing environment.
- Successfully complete the required training program within the defined probationary period.
- Successfully be mask fit tested.
Duties
- Provide complete food service functions for clients, including food preparation, restocking supplies, and cleaning dining, cooking areas and equipment.
- Prepare, disassemble, restock and clean the tray line for food assembly operations and all other areas within the department, including dish machine and waste removal.
- Assemble patient trays according to established time frames and all NFS department/Public Health policies, ensuring safe food handling.
- Work with other inter‑professional staff, delivery personnel, suppliers, office and clerical staff.
- Complete all housekeeping tasks using equipment such as vacuums, mops and floor machines.
- Perform all work in accordance with Public Health (safe food handling) Quinte Health policies and procedures and requirements, including WHMIS and provincial/local regulatory agencies for Quality Assurance & Safety.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Required occasionally – lifting and carrying average weight of 20 pounds and max 50, pushing/pulling average 10–15 pounds and max 30.

- Required frequently – forward shoulder movements, gripping/grasping, pinching, neck, elbow, shoulder, wrist and back normal range of motion.
- Required occasionally – fine finger movements, shoulder movements (up/down).
